Fit Awards, Accolades and Ratings

The Fit was engineered to be useful, efficient and reliable, but its most important attribute is its innate charm and coolness. Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com[1] took notice, naming the 2010 Fit to their "Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000"[note] list. Kbb.com justified their decision based on the "Fit's versatility, fuel efficiency[2] and fun-to-drive nature." Despite already naming the Fit to this list for every model year since its introduction, Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com remains impressed that the "Fit keeps its cool with available options[3] like paddle shifters, a navigation system[4] and iPod® integration[5]."

For the second consecutive year, Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com[1] named the Fit one of its Top Ten Green Cars. With 31 mpg combined fuel economy[2], the Fit had the mandatory eco credentials to make the list, but kbb.com saw much more. Kbb.com enjoyed the versatile 4-door's "fun, functional and interesting" nature, and its "surprising cargo capacity."

Edmunds.com has elevated the Fit to iconic status, naming it to their "Top 10 Most Noteworthy Vehicles of the Decade." Edmunds makes the case for the Fit, saying, "Unlike its competitors, the Fit didn't ask you to sacrifice space, practicality or driving pleasure. It delivered on all these counts, and proved that the frontier of car design is within the cabin." They also appreciated the Fit's performance, saying the engine "felt punchy" and the car's "superb handling was an unexpected bonus." Summing up their impression of the Fit, Edmunds.com states, "the Fit out-distanced all challengers without breaking a sweat."

The Honda Fit has been named Cars.com's Top Pick for First-Time Drivers. The award is for a combination of safety, visibility, and control. This just confirms what parents have been saying for years: they feel better knowing that their kid is out there in a Honda. According to Cars.com, the Fit had the added bonus that, "if you're a parent, you'll feel cool on the off-chance that you get to drive it."

The Honda Fit has captured the "Best Residual Value Award for the Entry Compact Car Segment" from ALG. Always an important figure, residual value should be top-of-mind for any car shopper. James Clark from ALG states, "We continue to believe that residual value is the best metric for evaluating the overall strength of an automotive brand." With its incredible versatility and surprising capabilities, the Fit has proven itself as something to covet both fresh from the factory or on the used-car market.

Honda has a long history of environmental leadership, including the introduction of America's first mass produced hybrid, the Honda Insight, and the first vehicle to meet California's low-emission vehicle standards, well in advance of regulatory requirements. Acknowledgement of our commitment to innovation can be seen by Honda's topping the rankings as the country's greenest automaker by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)-for the fourth time in a row.**

IntelliChoice[1] tries to determine the actual costs of ownership of new vehicles over a five-year period by exhaustively analyzing government and third-party data, and assigning a value rating to all vehicles. For its low ownership costs and overall value, the Fit has won the IntelliChoice[1] "Excellent Value" and SmartChoice awards for low maintenance and low ownership costs.

The Fit has once again conquered Car and Driver's 10Best Cars list. Car and Driver found much to enjoy about the Fit from its entertaining drive to its comfortable seats. "The overachieving Fit is one of our quick-draw answers when people ask us which car to buy. It's all the car anyone needs-big fun, and as cheap to own and operate as a hamster. Despite the Fit's microbial footprint, it takes truly Sasquatchian dimensions to be discomforted inside, and all that space is surrounded by quality materials and thoughtful design unmatched in many vehicles costing much more[1]."

Edmunds.com's choice to name the Fit a "Top Recommended" vehicle can be summed up by their statement-"No budget hatchback can match the 2010 Honda Fit's combination of practicality and performance." Edmunds.com was also impressed with the 5-door 2010 Fit because of its "above-average level of standard equipment" and its offering of "as much cargo volume as larger midsize sedans while costing a few thousand less."

The Fit was named one of the "Greenest Vehicles of 2010"[1] by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE). The spunky Fit charmed with its Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV-2) rating[2], and its frugal 28 city/35 highway mpg[3]. Three other Honda vehicles also made the list, making 2010 the ninth consecutive year Honda has had more than three cars named to ACEEE's "Greenest Vehicles."

Every Honda Fit is packed with advanced safety technology. The 2010 Honda Fit has earned a 5-star frontal crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)*. More good news? The Fit also has the Advanced Compatibility Engineering? (ACE?) body structure for enhanced impact compatibility, six airbags, active front head restraints and a host of other standard safety features.

* Government star ratings are part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA's) New Car Assessment Program (www.safercar.gov).
